For its electric two-wheelers, Ola Electric is creating a helmet-detecting technology to address this crucial problem. Ola hopes to improve safety measures and promote responsible riding behaviours among customers by using this cutting-edge technology.

Ola helmet detection system
In order to determine whether a rider is wearing a helmet or not, Ola’s cutting-edge helmet detection system uses camera technology. The information is then relayed to the Motor Control Unit (MCU) through the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU), an essential part of electric vehicles. If the vehicle should enter Ride mode or stay on standby, that decision is made by the Motor Control Unit, which has decisive intelligence.
If the rider is not wearing a helmet when the electric vehicle (EV) is in Ride mode, the helmet recognition system will immediately switch the vehicle to Park mode. Here is when Ola Electric’s creativity truly shines. A notification will clearly appear on the dashboard once the scooter is safely parked to remind the user to wear their helmet. The electric scooter or bike may only enter Ride mode when the VCU has successfully verified that the rider is wearing a helmet. In order to ensure a secure and safe ride, the device then continuously monitors the passenger.
