Owners in Noida to pay Rs 10000 fine, treat victim if the pet attacks someone

Pet attack: Rising cases of dog-bites in the city and nearby areas over the past few months has forced the Noida Authority to slap a fine of Rs 10,000 on owners in case of a pet attacks someone. The order would come in force from March 1, 2023. It would be the owner’s responsibility to arrange treatment of the victim.

Issue discussed

The Noida Authority in its board meeting on Saturday discussed the issue of pet attacks and stray dog menace in the city and nearby areas. Later, the Noida Authority issued an order stating that from March 1, 2023, in case of any attack by a pet dog or cat, the owner would have to cough up Rs 10,000 penalty and the injured person or animal will have to be treated by the owner.

The Authority also issued detailed guidelines in the meeting to determine the policies. The Chief Executive Officer of Noida Authority has issued an order under which registration of pet dogs and cats will become mandatory by March 2023. The pets can be registered on the Noida Authority pet registration app. Those who do not do so will have to pay a penalty.

Dog litter

If a pet dog litters in a public place, it will be the responsibility of the animal owner to clean it.

Sterilisation and anti-rabies vaccination of pet dogs too has been made mandatory and if one fails to do so, a fine of Rs 2,000 per month will be imposed.

Construction of dog shelters will be undertaken with the consent of RWA/AOA/village residents. Its maintenance will be the responsibility of the concerned RWA / AOA.
