New Delhi: Dr. Pawan Munjal, MD and CEO, Hero MotoCorp teased a brand new electric scooter, which is currently in the development stage, and will be introduced in India in the coming months, in the occasion of the Hero MotoCorp’s 10th year anniversary.
However, Munjal refused from disclosing any other details or time frame for its upcoming electric scooter, but revealed that more electric scooters are in the pipeline to be introduced in the near future. At present, Hero MotoCorp has partnerships with Ather, and Taiwan-based EV giant, Gogoro, to develop its electric scooters for the Indian market.
Not everything is known at the this time about the upcoming Hero Electric scooter, but based on the profile of the teaser image, it can be assumed that the scooter looks production-ready with a completely new design. The Hero electric scooter can sit on two different sets of wheels, 12-inch and 10-inch at front and rear respectively, telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear, as well as might come equipped with a single-sided swingarm.
A flyscreen, curvy bodywork and lengthy split-seats are some of the other remarkable features of the upcoming electric scooter.
Interestingly, Hero MotoCorp decided to tease its upcoming electric scooter, five days prior to the introduction of Ola’s electric scooter, hinting at the clear intentions of the company to battle it out in the electric scooter segment. Others in the segment include Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak and the TVS iQube.
Hero MotoCorp had signed an agreement with Taiwanese company Gogoro to share battery swap and technology features, in April. The design of the new electric scooter is not exactly what Gogoro offers. There are certain elements, like the single-sided swingarm, which has similarities with the Bajaj Chetak.
Hero MotoCorp’s latest teaser comes only days before one of the most anticipated electric two-wheeler launch from Ola Electric
The Hero MotoCorp electric scooter is likely to go on sale later this year or early next year.
