Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge advocated Rahul Gandhi as the prime ministerial candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has been tensed about this statement of his. Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday (November 2) said that the Congress is yet to know how it lost so badly in the 2014 and 2019 general elections.
Hitting out at Rahul Gandhi, the AIMIM chief asked, “If Rahul Gandhi left his constituency of Amethi and went to contest from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat. Then did I switch off oxygen for him?”. Owaisi said, “When their (Congress) figure came down to 50 in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, who switched off oxygen for them?” The AIMIM leader accused the Congress of being arrogant and unaware of the ground realities.
This sharp remark of Asaduddin Owaisi comes after Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s statement in Hyderabad on the previous day. In his first public address after becoming the Congress President, Mallikarjun Kharge said on Tuesday that the Congress would give a non-BJP government under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
“Congress will form government under the leadership of Rahul”
Kharge said that if someone brings a non-BJP government, then under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, we will bring it under the leadership of Congress. We have that power within us. Kharge, who attended Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra in Hyderabad, also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of spreading lies. The Congress President said that the election schedule was announced for Himachal Pradesh, but not for Gujarat, so that the PM can inaugurate many more bridges like the Giri bridge in Gujarat’s Morbi.
