PM Modi: Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of AIMIM, has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for saying during a visit to the US that there is “no discrimination in India.” Attacking the PM, Owaisi asserted that 300 churches were burned in Manipur, and the Lok Sabha member questioned whether it was not prejudice to compel Muslims to leave Uttarkashi. In order to refute the Prime Minister’s claim that there is no prejudice, he also raised the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and other issues.
Owaisi Highlights Alleged Discriminatory Actions
“Three hundred churches were burnt in Manipur, isn’t that a discrimination? The CAA was made by the Modi government on the basis of religion while Maulana Azad Fellowship Scheme (implemented by UGC for the students of Muslim, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist, Christian and Jain minority communities) was scrapped…all these steps are a sign of discrimination,” Owaisi said and posted the video on Twitter.
Owaisi Highlights Prime Minister’s Response to Media Query
For the first time in his nine years in power, according to Owaisi, the prime minister responded to a direct query from the media. It is noteworthy that during Modi’s visit, some 75 US Senators and Congressional representatives wrote to Biden expressing their worries about alleged human rights violations in India under the Modi regime. Barack Obama, a former resident of the US, also urged for the protection of ethnic minorities’ rights in India, which drew harsh condemnation from a number of officials.
