A meeting between three union ministers is being held in the capital Delhi today amid the shortage of coal in front of the country’s power companies. Union Energy Minister RK Singh and Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi have met Union Home Minister Amit Shah. RK Singh and Joshi reached the Home Ministry and held a meeting with Amit Shah. Officials of the Ministry of Power and Coal and NTPC are also present in the meeting.
For the past several days, reports related to shortage of coal in thermal power plants across the country are coming out. Heavy power cuts are also being seen in many states including Uttar Pradesh. Opposition parties have also raised the issue of coal shortage and energy crisis. After which this important meeting has taken place today. However, no official statement regarding the meeting has come from the government yet.

This whole matter is related to the coal stock. Usually, coal was kept in stock with the power companies for the first 17 days, which has now come close to 4 days. Regarding the reduction in coal stock, it has been said by the Delhi government that only two-three days of coal is left with Delhi. In Maharashtra, 13 units of 7 thermal power plants are said to be closed. States like Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand are also said to have disrupted power supply.
About 70 percent of the electricity generation in India is dependent on coal-based thermal power plants. In such a situation, not only the opposition parties, but experts in this field have also expressed concern about the shortage of coal. Many people have said about this that if this crisis is not resolved, then the electricity-powered industry may face difficulties.
