The central government is seen in action regarding the violence on the occasion of Ram Navami in Howrah, West Bengal. Union Home Minister Amit Shah called Governor CV Anand Bose and inquired about the situation. During this telephonic conversation, the Home Minister sought to know the current situation in the state, particularly in the violence-affected areas of Howrah. He also called up the state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar regarding the matter.
Sources said the Governor is understood to have briefed the Home Minister about Thursday’s violence and the prevailing situation. Violence broke out again on Friday, a day after the arson in Howrah. Houses were pelted with stones. Heavy police force is deployed in Howrah. There is strict vigilance in Shibpur area of the district as well. Police is on alert in view of Jumme.
BJP demands NIA probe
BJP is an attacker on Mamata government regarding Howrah violence. BJP MP Locket Chatterjee demanded the resignation of the Mamata government, holding it responsible for the entire incident. He also demanded an NIA probe into the incident.
Locket Chatterjee said, ‘The law and order situation in the state is bad. In such a situation, he should resign. He is the Chief Minister as well as the Home Minister. Despite this he is unable to stop it.’ The matter should be investigated by the NIA.
Suvendu Adhikari handed over the CD to the police
In Bengal, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari has handed over the CD of the violence to the Police Commissioner. He told that the police officer has officially received the CD. Earlier, Suvendu had told that he has a CD of Thursday’s incident which he will hand over to the police commissioner.
So far 31 people have been arrested in connection with the violence on the occasion of Ram Navami in Bengal. At the same time, CM Mamta Banerjee accused Hindu organizations of changing the route. In response to this, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) denied the allegations of changing the route.
