The vote counting for the 543 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections is currently underway. Amidst this process, a significant news story is emerging: Amit Shah, the candidate from the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat, is leading by an impressive margin of over 700,000 votes.
It is noteworthy that a close contest between the INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) coalition and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is seen. The NDA presently holds a 293-seat majority and has already won two seats, according to the Election Commission. In contrast, the Congress party—a significant player in the INDIA coalition—is in the lead with 99 seats.
Amit Shah Break Records in Gandhinagar
Amit Shah, the candidate from the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat, is on track to set a new record. As per the data released by the Election Commission, Shah is currently ahead by 743621 votes. However, it’s important to mention that in the 2014 by-election, Pritam Munde, daughter of Gopinath Munde, contested and received 922,416 votes. She defeated Suresh Ramchandra of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) by a margin of 696,321 votes. Until now, Pritam Munde held the record for the largest victory margin.
NDA and INDIA Alliance in Tight Contest
As the vote counting for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections continues, the INDIA coalition is performing significantly better than expected. According to the figures released by the Election Commission, the INDIA coalition is leading in 231 seats. Meanwhile, the NDA coalition is currently ahead in 294 seats.
