Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal arrives to meet Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena. Both were face to face for the first time after the CBI raid at the house of Deputy Chief Minister cum Education Minister Manish Sisodia. Routine meeting of Chief Minister and Lieutenant Governor is fixed every Friday.
But for the first time after the raid at Manish Sisodia’s house, both of them met today. The meeting lasted for about 40 minutes.
After the meeting, Arvind Kejriwal said, “We have a weekly meeting with the LG every Friday. Couldn’t happen for the last few weeks because I was not in Delhi by chance. Today I had a meeting with the LG. There was a good meeting in a very good atmosphere, many issues were discussed.”
Kejriwal said, “I have requested the LG that together let’s fix the MCD a little because there has been a lot of problem of cleanliness in Delhi. The dirt is spreading a lot all around. Those mountains of garbage, the speed at which the process of reducing them is going on, at that speed it will take a lot of time.”
The CM said, “In this regard, I said that if any help is needed from the Delhi government, then we are ready to do it. There was a lot of discussion on these two issues. One is how to fix the mountain of garbage and secondly how to fix the sanitation system in Delhi because there is a lot of complaints about cleanliness.”
On the situation of tussle between the LG and the government, he said, “Whatever happened, it is unfortunate. I hope the situation should improve. A very good conversation happened between the two of us in a very good atmosphere. It is very important for Kejriwal to reach him in the midst of a tussle with the Lieutenant Governor over the alleged scam in the excise policy. On the one hand, the Kejriwal government is being questioned by the LG regarding the liquor policy. On the other hand, LG has been accused of scam on behalf of AAP. AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak had accused Saxena of corruption in the Delhi Assembly, claiming that he had exchanged demonetised Indian currency notes in 2016 during his tenure as chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC). The AAP had demanded a CBI inquiry against Saxena, alleging that there was a scam of Rs 1,400 crore in this case.
Angered by this, the LG has sent a legal notice through a lawyer to Aam Aadmi Party, Atishi, Durgesh Pathak, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Sanjay Singh and Jasmin Shah. Objection to this has been expressed in the notice sent by LG. The slogans raised in the assembly regarding this issue and the hashtags used on Twitter (#LG Saxena ko Girftar karo, #LG Saxena chor hai) have also been questioned in the notice.
