In Manipur, the effect of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s appeal was visible only after a day. Manipur’s Security Advisor Kuldeep Singh said that more than 140 weapons and 11 magazines were surrendered at different places in the state on Friday. According to the information, the weapons include self-loading rifles, carbines, AK and INSAS rifles, light machine guns, pistols, M-16 rifles, smoke guns/tear gas, sten guns and grenade launchers. On Thursday, the last day of his visit to Manipur, Shah appealed to the people to hand over their weapons to the security forces and the administration.
To control the situation, 10,000 soldiers of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles are trying to restore normalcy in the northeastern state. Apart from this, jawans of other paramilitary forces have also been deployed.

Shah had said that the situation is peaceful in most of the districts in Manipur. Sporadic incidents of firing or arson in empty houses by miscreants are being seen as many security agencies are trying their best to stop the violence.
