Assembly Elections 2023: Today’s elections in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are crucial in the fierce contest between the Congress and BJP. 958 contestants are vying for 70 assembly seats spread across 19 districts in Chhattisgarh during the second round of voting. Over 2,000 people are vying for 230 seats in the Madhya Pradesh state assembly.
Congress, BJP, and Janata Congress Clash in Patan Constituency
In the race for today’s elections are state Congress head Kamal Nath and chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Meanwhile, a triangle fight between the ruling Congress, BJP, and Janata Congress Chhattisgarh will take place in the Patan constituency of Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister and former Congressman Bhupesh Baghel will compete against Vijay Baghel of the BJP, his nephew. The son of former chief minister Ajit Jogi, Amit Jogi, has been nominated by the Janata Congress Chhattisgarh for the position of supremo.
Kamal Nath Asserts People Will Opt for Change in the Face of Statewide Issues
Voting supporter Kamal Nath stated to India Today on Friday that the people of Madhya Pradesh are “unhappy with corruption, unemployment, farmers’ problems, small traders’ problems” and will choose the proper choice. “The whole picture is in front of the people of the state,” he stated. As Chouhan went to a temple to offer prayers, a sizable group of women in Sehore greeted him and his wife Sadhna Singh. The Chief Minister’s wife fed the women sweets while tilaks were put to their heads, as seen in a video released by the news agency ANI.
Violence Erupts in Morena District of Madhya Pradesh
Shortly after voting in the state this morning, Violence broke out in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district. Two persons were shot during reported firing in the Dimmi Vidhan Sabha area of Mirgham. A second attempt was made to tamper with the voting process, resulting in two more injuries from a stampede.
