Bhojpuri actor-singer Pawan Singh has decided to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, reversing his earlier withdrawal from the race. This decision comes after Singh initially withdrew his candidature from Asansol in West Bengal, citing personal reasons.
Renewed Commitment to the People
In a recent social media post, Singh expressed his intention to honor his promise to the people and his mother by participating in the elections. Seeking blessings and cooperation, he affirmed his determination with the slogan “Jai Mata Di.”
Initial Withdrawal
Singh had initially opted out of the Lok Sabha poll contest following allegations by the Trinamool Congress, claiming that some of his songs contained derogatory remarks about Bengali women. Despite being included in the BJP’s candidate list for Asansol, he cited personal reasons for his withdrawal.
Political Landscape
The current Lok Sabha representative for Asansol is Shatrughan Sinha, a veteran actor and politician affiliated with the Trinamool Congress. Sinha is set to contest from the same seat in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha election. Regarding Pawan Singh’s previous decision to withdraw from the election, Sinha commented that it pertained to internal matters within the BJP.
