Before the upcoming assembly elections in Punjab, the Channi government has made a big announcement. CM Charanjit Singh Channi said that we have decided to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 10 per liter and Rs 5 per liter respectively to be effective from midnight tonight.
People have got relief after the central government cut the prices of petrol and diesel. Now the Punjab government has also decided to cut, which will be implemented from tonight itself. Earlier, VAT was cut in the prices of petrol and diesel by issuing a notification from the Chandigarh Administration, which was issued from November 4.

Petrol prices across the country were cut by Rs 5.7 to Rs 6.35 and diesel by Rs 11.16 to Rs 12.88 on Thursday as oil companies passed on its benefits to customers after a record cut in excise duty rates by the central government. The central government had cut excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 respectively a night before Diwali to give some relief to the common people from inflation.
At the same time, earlier on November 1, the Punjab government had announced an 11 percent increase in the dearness allowance of the state employees. Along with this, it was also announced to make electricity cheaper by Rs 3 per unit in the state. In the press conference, the CM had said that the domestic electricity consumers in Punjab who are using electricity up to 7 kW, will now get electricity at concessional rates.
