The Kerala Chief Minister and CPI(M) leader Pinarayi Vijayan received scathing criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday for his “revolutionary greetings” to Chinese President Xi Jinping on his re-election after the latter won an unprecedented third term as the leader of China on Friday.
On Monday, PK Krishnadas, a spokesperson for the BJP in Kerala, criticised the CM for praising the Chinese President. The Kerala chief minister, according to the BJP leader, humiliated the armed forces with his remark.
has forgotten Galwan: BJP
“The Kerala CM did not speak about the fire at Brahmapuram waste treatment plant in Kochi. The CM has forgotten Galwan where 20 Indian Jawans were killed by the Chinese army. Pinarayi Vijayan has shamed the armed forces and he must apologise to the families of the jawans who were killed. The BJP condemn this,” said the BJP leader.
Marxist veteran Vijayan said in a tweet that under Xi’s leadership, the Communist country has become a significant voice in global relations.
“Revolutionary greetings to President Xi Jinping on his re-election as the President of the People’s Republic of China. It is truly commendable that China has emerged as a prominent voice in global politics. Best wishes for the continued efforts to achieve a more prosperous China,” Vijayan tweeted.
President Xi was given an unprecedented third five-year term by the Chinese Parliament on Friday.
