Assembly by election 2023: The by-elections for seven assembly seats have been declared by the Election Commission. By-elections will be place in Jharkhand, Tripura, Kerala, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, among other states. On September 5, there will be by-elections for the seven assembly of these six states.
A Look at the Seats Up for Grabs
After Jagarnath Mahato’s passing, the Dumri assembly seat in Jharkhand reportedly became vacant. Similar to how Oommen Chandy’s death left the Puthupalli assembly seat in Kerala vacant, Samsul Haq’s death left the Boxanagar assembly seat in Tripura vacant, Bishnu Pandey’s death left the Dhupguri (SC) assembly seat in West Bengal vacant, and Chandan Ram Das’ death left the Bageshwar (SC) seat in Uttarakhand vacant. Pratima Bhimik’s resignation left a second Dhanpur assembly seat open in Tripura. Similar to this, after Dara Singh Chauhan’s resignation, the Ghosi assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh became vacant.

- Date of issue of notification – 10 August
- Last date of nomination – 17 August
- Scrutiny of nominations – August 18
- Last date for withdrawal of nomination – 21 August
- Date of polling – September 5
- Counting of votes – September 8
- Time to complete the election process – 10 September
