On the occasion of Govardhan pooja, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, every year, for the state’s well-being, auspiciousness and for the destruction of obstacles, bears the blow of Kush. CM also performed this tradition in village Janjgiri on Friday morning. The villager Birendra Thakur has attacked him with a sote. Villagers told that this is an ancient tradition. On this occasion, the Chief Minister told the villagers that every year Bharosa Thakur used to attack. Now this tradition is being followed by his son Birendra Thakur. In a discussion with the villagers, he said that Govardhan Puja is the worship of the tradition of prosperity of the cow, the more prosperous the cow, the more we will progress. This is the reason why Govardhan Puja is so popular in rural areas. People wait for it throughout the year, in a way this worship is also a symbol of our gratitude towards the cow.
Every year I reach among you guys early in the morning and I feel very happy. Govardhan Puja is a folk festival tradition. Our ancestors have created very beautiful small traditions and through these traditions brings joy in our lives. Today my heart is filled with joy after reaching amongst all of you and seeing this joyful gathering. Govardhan Puja and Gaura Gauri Puja is a celebration of deep affection for the soil.
The CM said that seeing the faces of you people full of gaiety, it is experienced that how culturally rich our state is and how we are saving this cultural richness as a heritage. On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that it is the duty of all of us to preserve the identity of our soil and promote it.

He said that there was a apprehension that gradually these traditions might not be forgotten. Chief Minister said that we have taken a pledge that we will give topmost place to our cultural traditions in our system because we also exist because of tradition. We also learn values from tradition. Bhupesh Baghel said that the festivals of our rural culture are festivals to promote agriculture. Through festivals we connect to the ground. The Chief Minister also participated in Gaura Gauri Puja on this occasion and addressed the people who had come.
