Chandigarh Mayor Election: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has made a big attack on BJP regarding the Chandigarh Mayor election results. He wrote on Twitter, “The manner in which dishonesty has been done in broad daylight in the Chandigarh Mayor elections is extremely worrying. If these people can stoop so low in a mayor’s election, then they can go to any extent in the country’s elections. This is very worrying.”
Manoj Sonkar’s Victory
Manoj Sonkar, a candidate for Chandigarh mayor, was elected by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He overcame Aam Aadmi Party member Kuldeep Kumar. In this election, the AAP and Congress forged an alliance. The Aam Aadmi Party had put forward a candidate for mayor in accordance with the agreement. Candidates for the positions of Deputy Mayor and Senior Deputy Mayor were presented by Congress.
CM Bhagwant Mann’s Reaction
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has slammed BJP’s victory in Chandigarh. CM said that democracy has been murdered in the elections today. In Chandigarh, the Mayor has not been elected but has been appointed. Presiding officer Anil Masih has been accused of scam.
In the Chandigarh mayoral elections, Manoj Sonkar, the BJP’s candidate, received sixteen votes. Singh, though, received 12 votes. Eight votes were ruled to be void. Congress and the AAP have accused each other of manipulating votes that were ruled void. We are taking this matter to the High Court, stated an AAP councillor. The BJP won today by deceit. They grabbed the vote out of my hand. 8 How are votes voidable?
