A day after the central government blocked its plans to launch doorstep delivery of rations in Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today accused the centre of taking the step under the “influence” of the ration mafia, which he said has ensured that pro-poor revelutionary scheme does not get implemented in the national capital.
Under the scheme, every beneficiary was entitled to receive 4 kg of flour and one kg of rice cleaned and packed at their doorstep.
Addressing a virtual press conference, CM Kejriwal claimed,”Just two days before ‘Doorstep Delivery of Ration’ scheme’s implementation in Delhi, the central govt stopped it.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader also refuted allegations that the Delhi government didn’t seek permission from the Centre for the scheme. “We took approval not just once, but five times. Legally, we don’t need Centre’s approval but we did so out of courtesy,” he said.
CM further asked, “If pizza, burger and smartphones can be delivered at home in this country, why not ration?”
