Congress Cancels Padyatra In Karnataka

Congress has decided to suspend its padyatra in Karnataka. Party leader and former CM Siddaramaiah gave this information. He said, ‘We are suspending our padyatra. It is worth noting that the party has decided to suspend its padyatra on the fifth day.’ This decision was taken after five leaders were found positive. According to sources, this decision has been taken on the initiative of Rahul Gandhi and Randeep Singh Surjewala.

Sources reveal that former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewal had spoken to Karnataka State Congress chief (KPCC) DK Shivakumar on the issue and asked him to take a decision on whether they still want to continue the padyatra or not. State CM Basavaraj Bommai also wrote letters to Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah and KPCC chief Shivakumar on this issue.

The CM had urged to stop the padyatra citing the increasing cases of corona in the state of Karnataka. Former CM Siddaramaiah said, ‘We had taken a decision about this padyatra about two months ago. We wanted to end this march in the capital Bengaluru, but due to the third wave of Corona, we are postponing it right now.’
