Congress Revises Poster for INDIA Meet Amid Uproar; Rahul Gandhi Out, Kejriwal In

Congress: In response to criticism over featuring Rahul Gandhi in the foreground and omitting AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal from the poster of I.N.D.I.A bloc’s leaders, the Congress on Wednesday removed it and released a new one that featured Chief Ministers from opposition-ruled states to challenge the BJP-led NDA in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Rahul Gandhi’s Leading Role in Original Poster Draws Scrutiny

Rahul Gandhi was allegedly depicted as the leader of the I.N.D.I.A. alliance in a poster that the Congress released on X, formerly known as Twitter, before of the Opposition’s significant meeting in Mumbai on Thursday. The earlier poster, in addition to images of Arvind Kejriwal, also had images of Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Nitish Kumar, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, Hemant Soren, and Mallikarjun Kharge. The party removed the poster and published a new one.

The Recent Poster Showcases a Diverse Array of Chief Ministers

The most recent poster featured images of the chief ministers of Rajasthan, Nitish Kumar of Bihar, Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal, Bhupesh Baghel of Chhattisgarh, Arvind Kejriwal of Delhi, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of Himachal Pradesh, Hemant Soren of Jharkhand, and Bhagwant Mann of Punjab. Shehzad Poonawalla, a BJP spokeswoman, claimed the alliance has no mission and has simply become a platform for Rahul Gandhi. On August 31 and September 1, prominent members of the anti-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition, which includes more than two dozen groups, will meet in a posh hotel in suburban Mumbai for their third meeting since initially uniting on a common platform in Patna in June. On August 31 and September 1, the third INDIA alliance conference will be attended by 63 representatives from 28 political parties, according to NCP president Sharad Pawar.

Opposition Alliance Envisions Potent Force for Political Transformation

Pawar expressed optimism that the opposition alliance will offer a strong alternative to bring about political change while speaking at a press conference in this city. Seat sharing within India has not been discussed, according to Pawar. Sonia Gandhi will attend the INDIA alliance meeting in Mumbai, according to the president of the Maharashtra Congress, Nana Patole. In addition to discussing their plans for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, he said opposition leaders will also unveil the alliance’s official logo at the meeting. The bloc’s first meeting took place in Patna in June, and during its second meeting in Bengaluru in July, its name, Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), was decided. The coalition was created with the intention of competing against the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is led by the BJP, in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
