In a recent development, former Karnataka minister and Congress leader, H. Anjaneya, sparked a major controversy by drawing an unusual equation between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Lord Ram. The statements come amidst the anticipation surrounding the grand opening of the Ram Temple on January 22.
Equating Chief Minister Siddaramaiah with Lord Ram
Anjaneya, in his remarks, equated Chief Minister Siddaramaiah with Lord Ram, further asserting that the idol to be installed in the Ayodhya temple would be “BJP’s Ram.” The controversy deepens as these statements coincide with the CM’s uncertainty about attending the consecration ceremony.
BJP’s Response and Accusations
The BJP responded strongly, accusing Anjaneya of disrespecting Hindu deities. BJP leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal cautioned Anjaneya to speak with respect and dignity when referring to Lord Ram and other Hindu deities.
Accusations Against BJP
Anjaneya, in his criticism, accused the BJP of dividing people along religious and communal lines. He argued that the ruling party prioritizes political gains over addressing larger social issues the country is grappling with.
Focus on Social Issues
The Congress leader emphasized the need to address homelessness and improve living conditions for the less fortunate, rather than prioritizing the construction of the Ram Temple for political gains. He called for affordable housing solutions to improve the lives of those in need.
BJP’s Ram Temple Focus Criticized
Anjaneya criticized the BJP for emphasizing the Ram Temple while neglecting the pressing issues faced by the country’s homeless population. He called for the construction of affordable homes as the ideal Ram Temples, contrasting with the political motivations behind building shrines.
Finalized Idol for Consecration
The idol for the consecration at the Ram Temple on January 22, carved by sculptor Yogiraj Arun from Karnataka, has been finalized. According to the Sri Ram Janambhoomi Trust, arrangements are being made for 10,000-15,000 people to attend the event.
