Delhi civic poll: AAP’s first list of 134 candidates out, over 60 women named

The initial list of 134 candidates for the 250-ward Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) election was released by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday. This time around, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party has announced more than 60 female candidates. Following a meeting of the party’s political affairs committee, the identities were disclosed.

According to a party statement cited by news agency PTI, over 20,000 employees had applied to be given a ticket to vote in the election.

“First list of AAP candidates for Delhi MCD elections is OUT! Congratulations to all the candidates. Delhi will soon be a clean & green city!,” the AAP tweeted.

The party announced its list of 30 top candidates for the civic body election earlier in the day. The list includes people like Kejriwal, former cricketer and current Rajya Sabha member Harbhajan Singh, Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann, Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, Rajendra Pal Gautam, who resigned from his position as minister due to his attendance at a religious conversion event, Delhi and Punjab cabinet ministers Kailash Gahlot, Gopal Rai, and Imran Hussain, as well as newly inducted Raaj Kumar Anand.

The MCD election will take place on December 4, and the results will be announced on December 7.
