The Delhi High Court will pronounce its order on Monday (June 5) on the six-week interim bail plea of Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia in the money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam. The court of Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma will give its verdict on the interim bail plea.
The former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi has requested the court for interim bail on the grounds of being the sole caregiver of his ailing wife. A petition by Sisodia for regular bail in the case is pending before the High Court. Sisodia, who was arrested on March 9 on charges of excise policy scam, is lodged in Tihar Jail.
The Delhi High Court on Saturday (June 3) reserved order on Manish Sisodia’s six-week interim bail application and sought a report from LNJP Hospital on the health condition of Sisodia’s wife Seema.
Was arrested on 26 February
The ED had earlier opposed Manish Sisodia’s bail. Manih Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 for his alleged role in the excise scam and has been in custody since then.
CBI refused to grant bail
On May 30, the High Court refused to grant him bail in the CBI case. Sisodia was arrested on March 9 in a case registered by the ED and is currently in judicial custody.
ED accuses Sisodia
ED has accused AAP leader Sisodia of irregularities in liquor policy. The ED claims that while changing the excise policy, irregularities were done and undue benefits were given to the license holders. Sisodia played a major role in this, as he was also in charge of the Excise Department.
