Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today submitted his reply to the Election Commission in the ongoing fight over Shiv Sena’s name and party symbol. He said that Eknath Shinde cannot claim Shiv Sena’s election symbol – bow and arrow. He said Shinde and the MLAs of his faction have voluntarily left the party. The Eknath Shinde faction has staked claim on the Shiv Sena’s symbol ‘bow and arrow’ ahead of the Andheri East assembly by-polls.
The Election Commission had asked the Uddhav Thackeray faction to respond by 2 pm on Saturday. The Election Commission had sought this reply from Thackeray on the affidavit of the Shinde faction. Uddhav Thackeray has sent his reply to the commission today itself. In his reply, Uddhav Thackeray has said that the current CM of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, along with other rebel Shiv Sena MLAs have already left the party of their own voluntarily. In such a situation, they cannot talk about their rights regarding the party’s symbol bow and arrow.
According to information received from sources, the Uddhav faction has also made preparations to file an affidavit with the support of more than 5 lakh party office bearers and members. On the other hand, the Shinde camp claims that they have the support of most of the Shiv Sena members. Thackeray-led Shiv Sena does not have majority support and hence has not submitted any documents yet. Since the rebellion in Shiv Sena, there is a dispute about the real Shiv Sena.
