N Kiran Kumar Reddy, a senior Congress leader and the last chief minister of an undivided Andhra Pradesh, has once more left the party and joined the BJP. On Thursday, he went to Delhi and met with top BJP leaders.
Together with Telangana BJP MP Dr. Lakshman and other senior officials, he joined the party in the presence of Union minister Prahlad Joshi.
This was Kiran Kumar Reddy’s second time quitting the Congress. When the state was split in half in 2014, he left for the first time. He launched the Jai Samaikyandhra Party, a regional party, and ran unsuccessfully in the national elections in 2014.
After the general election of 2019, he later returned to Congress. He didn’t actively involve in any party programmes, though. Kiran Kumar Reddy reportedly denied national-level post in the Congress, which led him to remain silent.
Combination of PM Modi and home minister Shah working well for country
Kiran Kumar Reddy, who just joined the BJP, claimed that the government was doing well under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. He claimed he had joined the party because he was impressed by this combo.
Congress, according to him, should take state leadership more seriously. According to him, the Congress high command made a number of poor choices that caused the party to lose support in a number of states. He added that the top command of the House only believes in issuing orders to state-level officials and has no understanding of the reality on the ground.
