Trinamool Congress: On Wednesday, Pijush Kanti Biswas, the former State president of the Tripura Congress, joined Trinamool Congress along with five other political leaders.
Former Tripura Congress President and five others join Trinamool Congress
Mr. Biswas has held the positions of Assistant Solicitor General of India and President of the Tripura High Court Bar Council. He will shortly be named the Trinamool Congress’ Tripura State President.
Along with Biswas, other prominent politicians Tejen Das, Ananta Banerjee, Bimal Rudra Paul, Purnita Chakma, and Samrendra Ghosh also joined the TMC.
Das and Banerjee have been former General Secretaries of Tripura Pradesh Congress, Chakma has been a former Working President of Tripura Mahila Congress, Ghosh previously worked as the former Secretary General of Tripura Youth Congress.
Trinamool Congress working overtime to expand its footprint in the North East
Trinamool Congress is working to increase its electoral footprint in West Bengal and the North East. On December 12–13, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will travel to Meghalaya. During her two days there, she would meet with party finctionaries and other stakeholders. She is also expected to participate in a pre-Christmas celeberation.
After Mukul Sangma, the former chief minister of Meghalaya, joined the Trinamool Congress along with 11 Congress legislators, the party has become the main opposition party in the state.
In preparation for the early 2019 elections in Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya, the party is working tirelessly in the North East.
