Former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has dismissed all speculations about his return to the party. In fact, it was being claimed in some reports that he may rejoin the Congress. However, on Friday, he dismissed all the speculations. In a tweet, he said, I am shocked to see the news of my rejoining the Congress party. Unfortunately, such stories are being fabricated right now by a section of leaders in the Congress party and are doing so only to demoralize my leaders and supporters”.
Ghulam Nabi Azad further said, I have no ill will towards the Congress party and its leadership, however I request them to ask these storytellers to desist from doing so. Once again I would like to emphasize that this story is completely baseless.
Ghulam Nabi Azad will not participate in Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra
Azad, who was the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, said that the suggestion of his return to the old party has been made by some vested interest leaders in the Congress and there is no truth in it. Azad said, I never spoke to any Congress leader nor did anyone call me. That’s why I wonder why such news is being published in the media. Azad said these attempts were made by Congress leaders to create a sense of uncertainty within his party workers and to demoralize them. He said, “Come what may, we will emerge stronger.”
When asked whether he will join the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra that will enter Jammu and Kashmir next month, Azad said, “I have no such plans.” I have a lot of work of my own.
Earlier in the day, a report by news agency ANI claimed that Congress leaders Akhilesh Prasad Singh, Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Ambika Soni had been tasked to bridge the gap between Azad and the Congress.
