Gujarat Elections: Ahead of commencement of polling for the second phase of Elections, Prime Minister Modi urged voters through a tweet particularly yourh and women to cast their votes in large numbers and also stated that he too will cast his vote Ahmedabad at around 9:00 AM.

As polling got underway in Gujarat for second and final phase of election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the polling station set up in a school in Ranip Area of Ahmedabad to cast his vote.
Second Phase of Polls covers 93 constituencies across 14 districts in the Central and North regions of the state
Second Phase of Gujarat Assembly Election has witnessed energetic campaign from the Premier Parties and voters started streaming in at polling station from 8:00 AM onwards in 93 constituencies across 14 districts in the Central and North regions of the state. There are a total of 833 candidates from 61 political parties in fray and this phase will also decide the fate of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel who is contesting from Ghatlodia (in Ahmedabad district), young firebrand Patidar leader Hardik Patel who on his election debut is contesting from Viramgam on a BJP ticket, and Gandhinagar South will see Alpesh Thakur another young leader test the electoral waters as a BJP candidate.
For the first time in Gujarat there are major three major contenders vying for office in Gandhinagar
Gujarat has always seen a two horse race in which BJP and the Congress are the premier parties in the electoral contest for Gujarat. However entry of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has added the third dimension in the Gujarat Election and only election result will decide , whose vote it will cut on the D – day.
Among Congress heavyweights, Leader of Opposition in the Guajarat Assembly Sukhram Rathva is contesting from Jetpur in Chota Udepur and Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani is contesting as a Congress candidate from Vadgam seat.
There are 833 candidates in fray in the second and final phase of polling with 285 independents.
Election Commission Data has revealed that a total of 2.51 crore voters eligible to exercise their franchise in the second and final phase of elections , which includes 1.29 crore men and 1.22 crore women. There are 5.96 lakh voters in the age group of 18-19 years.
