Gujarat Polls: As Gujarat Assemble elections draw close, the three major parties — Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party — will be addressing rallies in their last leg of campaigning today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal will address rallies in Surat. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will hold public rallies in Narmada and Ahmedabad.

Surat goes to poll on Dec 1
Voting will be held in Surat in the first phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections on December 1. The second phase of election is on December 5 while the votes will be counted on December 8. The ‘diamond city’ sends 12 MLAs to the state’s 182-member Assembly.
PM Modi will address a public meeting at Mota Varachha in Surat. Before this he will hold a 25-km road-show from the airport to the rally venue, said a local BJP leader Jagdish Patel. Later he will address three rallies at Netrang in Bharuch and in Kheda district. Surat’s textile and diamond industry employ lakhs of people and is a stronghold of the BJP for decades.
Kejriwal to meet gem artisans
Kejriwal will also hold town hall meetings with textile industry leaders and gem artisans and also address a public meeting at Yogi Chowk. Gujarat AAP general secretary Manoj Sorathiya said the Delhi chief minister will also hold a roadshow in Katargam.
“Within Gujarat, Surat has today become the epicentre of AAP. Surat Municipal Corporation is today the largest civic body of Gujarat. As per our internal survey, AAP is leading in all 12 seats with more vote share than the BJP,” Sorathiya claimed. He isad those associated with textile and diamond industry were supporting his party.
