I came here to apologise, I trusted wrong people: Sharad Pawar in Nashik

Sharad pawar

Sharad Pawar, drenched in rain, spoke at a rally in Nashik on Saturday, his first stop on a state tour to rebuild the Nationalist Congress Party after Ajit Pawar’s revolt caused it to split. “I have come here to apologise. I erred in trusting some people. Won’t repeat the mistake,” Sharad Pawar said. In a jibe at nephew Ajit Pawar who called Sharad Pawar old, Pawar said people commenting on his age will have to pay heavily for it.

Sharad Pawar said PM Modi should take action against the leaders whom he accused of corruption in reference to the recent address in Bhopal in which he accused NCP officials of misconduct — days before Ajit Pawar and his followers entered the government. Sharad Pawar stated that Prime Minister Modi had access to all state machinery.

The Sharad Pawar camp reached out to the public on an emotional level at a rally on Saturday in Nashik despite the nonstop rain. This is in response to the recent rise of the debate over who the true NCP is. On June 30, two days before taking the oath of office as the deputy chief minister, Ajit Pawar declared his selection as the NCP’s president.

Number game between Sharad Pawar versus Ajit Pawar

Ajit Pawar asserted that he had more MLAs on his side, but Praful Patel of the Ajit Pawar camp argued that there was no number game going on because the NCP had not split in any way. According to Sharad Pawar, Supriya Sule won the Lok Sabha election whereas Praful Patel lost, and even after his loss, he was sent to the Rajya Sabha. This is in response to Praful Patel’s alleged claim that Sharad Pawar bases all of his decisions on Supriya Sule.

‘Don’t raise the issue of my age’

Sharad Pawar advised not to bring up the subject of his age in a message for everyone, stating that he will continue to lead the party. Sharad Pawar stated earlier in the day that he is neither tired nor retired as he began the mission to rebuild his party while on a state trip.

After Ajit Pawar publicly attacked Sharad Pawar over his age and suggested that it was time for him to leave politics, comments about Sharad Pawar’s age and health (he has survived oral cancer) came under discussion.
