Income Tax News : Income Tax Department Sets Up Control Room to Curb Misuse of Money Power During Maharashtra Assembly Elections

Income Tax News: In preparation for the upcoming General Elections to the Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra 2024, the Income Tax Department has taken steps to prevent the misuse of money power. The department has established a dedicated control room in Pune to monitor and curb any financial irregularities that could affect the fairness of the election process.

Toll-Free Numbers and Reporting Mechanisms for Citizens

Citizens residing in the districts of Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Pune, Ahmednagar, Solapur, Satara, Sangli, Sindhudurg, and Kolhapur can now report any instances of misuse of money during the elections. They can do so by calling the toll-free numbers 1800-233-0353 or 1800-233-0354, or by sending texts, videos, or images via WhatsApp to 9421546484. Reports can also be submitted via email at pune.pdit.inv@incometax.gov.in.

Ensuring Free and Fair Elections

This initiative is part of the Income Tax Department’s commitment to support the Election Commission of India’s efforts in ensuring a transparent and fair electoral process. The control room is located at Room no. 829, 8th Floor, Aayakar Sadan, Bodhi Tower, Salisbury Park, Gultekdi, Pune. Citizens are encouraged to actively participate in safeguarding the integrity of the elections by reporting any suspicious activities.
