INDIA Coalition’s Mumbai Meet Set to Deliberate on Awareness Campaign and More

INDIA Mumbai Meet

INDIA Mumbai Meet: At the third meeting of the coalition, which will be held in Mumbai from August 31 to September 1, a suggestion for an awareness campaign regarding the Opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance’s (INDIA) core value of preserving the Constitution will be addressed, according to a group leader.

Communist Party Leader Stresses Awareness Campaign for Defending Constitution

Dipankar Bhattacharya, the leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, said the campaign will aid in spreading awareness of the importance of unity before the national elections in 2024.  “Our primary aim is to spread the message that the opposition bloc has been formed to defend the constitution and to fight the BJP [Bharatiya Janata Party] led NDA [National Democratic Alliance] government. ..a schedule [for the campaign] could be thrashed out [at Mumbai].”

Nitish Kumar’s Visit to Delhi Sparks INDIA Summit Conversations

Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, reportedly spoke with INDIA officials about the topic of the Mumbai summit during his two-day visit to Delhi, according to people with knowledge of the situation. “The meeting’s draught agenda is being prepared. Congress, Kumar, and other politicians spoke,” an individual who wished to remain anonymous stated. After travelling to Delhi for a check-up and the death anniversary of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Kumar arrived back in Patna on Thursday. He insisted that he was not there to speak with the INDIA grouping. We continue to communicate with Congress and other officials. We speak on the phone. The key item on the agenda in Mumbai would be a seat-sharing scheme. According to a second individual with knowledge of the situation, the plan under discussion would focus on placing one candidate up against NDA nominees for as many seats as possible and would be mostly state-specific.

Congress Leader Stresses Seat Sharing Based on Viability Amidst Challenges

Even if there were still problems, a Congress leader stated that the primary issue of winnability will be considered for seat sharing. For instance, the Left and Congress are in charge in Kerala, with the BJP coming in a distant third. “Seat sharing concerns in Kerala are being investigated. We’re hoping that the Left and Congress can put aside their disagreements,” a fourth leader stated. The Rashtriya Janata Dal and Janata Dal (United) want to run for 15 seats apiece in Bihar, leaving the Congress and Left parties with about 10 seats. Congress desires 8–10 seats. According to Bhattacharya, his party wants four seats, but the choice would be made collaboratively. “The seat-sharing arrangement would be more or less state specific with emphasis on putting a candidate against the BJP and NDA.’ Nikhil Anand, a BJP MP, claimed that the opposition is not united since they do not yet have a leader. “By starting a national campaign, will they persuade people that Article 370 [of the Constitution] won’t be reinstated, as demanded by the National Conference and People Democratic Party [Jammu and Kashmir parties]? They seek to repeal the anti-conversion statute in Karnataka. They merely seek political polarisation and appeasement in the pretext of defending secularism.
