India Vs Bharat

India Vs Bharat: The invitations for the G20 dinner at the Rashtrapati Bhawan addressed the host as “President of Bharat” rather than the customary “President of India,” which sparked a political controversy. While the leaders of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) have praised the move and emphasised how it links the populace with the origins of civilization, the opposition parties have organised to take the BJP on. Because of the recently established alliance I.N.D.I.A., the opposition leaders claim that the BJP has altered the title “President of India” to “President of Bharat.”

The parties in the opposition alliance I.N.D.I.A. have united in a remarkable display of unity to criticise the Bhartiya Janata Party for changing its name on the invitation to the G20 dinner. Mani Shankar Iyer, a senior leader, claimed that the BJP is terrified of the I.N.D.I.A alliance. He questioned how India could represent colonialism given that it is mentioned in our constitution.

Mamata Banerjee Questions BJP’s Invitation Name Change to ‘Bharat’

The leader of the TMC, Mamata Banerjee, questioned the reasoning behind the name change, claiming that the world is familiar with the term India.  “Today, they (Centre) changed the name of India. In the invitation card for the G20 Summit dinner, it is mentioned ‘Bharat’…In English, we say ‘India’ and the ‘Indian Constitution’ and in Hindi, we say ‘Bharat ka Samvidhan’. We all say ‘Bharat’, what is new in this?” asked Banerjee.

Arvind Kejriwal Mocks BJP’s Invitation Name Change to ‘Bharat’

The BJP was questioned by Arvind Kejriwal, the chief of the Aam Aadmi Party and the mayor of Delhi, on what the party would do if the opposition alliance called itself Bharat. “If an alliance of some parties become India, would they change the name of the country? The country belongs to 140 crore people, not to a party. Let’s assume if the India alliance renames itself as Bharat, would they rename Bharat as BJP then?… What’s this joke?” said Kejriwal.

BJP Praises ‘Bharat’ Name Change, Accuses Congress of Family-Oriented Politics

The BJP officials have praised the action, claiming that Rashtrapati Bhawan made the decision. JP Nadda, the national president of the BJP, attacked the Congress party, alleging that it is family-oriented. Nadda asked, “Why do people doing political tours in the name of Bharat Jodo hate the slogan of Bharat Mata Ki Jai? It is clear that Congress neither respects the country, nor the Constitution, nor the constitutional institutions. It only aims to praise one family (Gandhis). The entire country knows very well the anti-national and anti-constitutional intentions of Congress.” Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan said that ‘Bharat’s is the original introduction for the residents of this country. “‘Bharat’ is our introduction. We are proud of it. The President has given priority to ‘Bharat’. This is the biggest statement to come out of the colonial mindset.” said Pradhan.
