KCR’s party “BJP’s B-Team”, won’t sit with them in Opposition meet says Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi attacked CM KCR and BJP during an address in Telangana .

Rahul Gandhi: On Sunday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has launched a strong worded charge against Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Chandrashekar Rao. “In Telangana, it is a fight between Congress and BJP’s B team, BRS. Like we defeated BJP in Karnataka, similarly we’ll defeat their B team in Telangana,” Rahul Gandhi said.

He has further stated that Congress won’t join any Opposition meeting if the BRS is part of it. He also said K Chandrashekhar’s remote lies with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also referred to BRS as ‘BJP Rishtedar Samithi’.

‘Telangana was a dream’

Rahul Gandhi was addressing a rally at Telangana’s Khammam. Telangana Assembly is due for reelection in December this year and Congress leader is spearheading opposition unity in run up to polls. Karnataka has been recently claimed by Congress and they are hoping to carve more influence in the southern part of the country.

Rahul Gandhi spoke about his Bharat Jodo Yatra and how it received widespread support throughout the country. He talked about Congress’s strong presence in Khammam and how people of the region understand Congress’s ideology. “The entire country supported the Yatra showing that they do not support the spread of hatred and violence but uniting the country. Khammam is Congress’ stronghold and the people have always shown their support. The people here understand our ideology…Telangana was a dream, the dream of the poor, farmer and labourer. For 9 years TRS tried to crush this dream”, Congress leader said.

Opposition Unity and BRS exclusion

During his address the former Congress leader repeatedly emphasized that Congress won’t be attending any opposition meet if BRS is a part of it. Rahul Gandhi had earlier told leaders of other opposition party that they won’t join any bloc with BRS in it. “During the opposition meeting, we made it clear that the Congress will not join the meeting if TRS (now BRS) is part of it…We can never make a settlement with BJP’s B team,” he stated.

The opposition parties meet in Patna with aim to forge a united path for 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Although recent events including NCP crisis in Maharashtra has raised questions over legitimacy of Union, many seasoned politicians from different political groups are resolved to present a united front against BJP in 2024.
