The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has received permission from the Central Government to prosecute Lalu Prasad Yadav in the ‘job for land’ scam in Railways. This case pertains to the time when Lalu Prasad was the Railway Minister of the country and that is why the CBI had sought permission from the Central Government to prosecute him. The CBI had in October last year filed a charge sheet against former railway minister Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi and 14 others in the alleged land-for-jobs scam during their tenure in the Railways.
Lalu Prasad Daughter Accused Too
Lalu Prasad’s daughter Misa Bharti and a former general manager of the railways have also been named as accused. The central agency had registered a preliminary inquiry on September 23, 2021, related to the alleged land-for-job scam in the Railways, which was converted into an FIR on May 18.
According to the agency, the candidates were allegedly appointed as substitutes to Group D posts within three days of applying by railway officials in ‘undue haste’ and subsequently, ‘the persons themselves or their family members’ had transferred his land.
Transfer was done in the name of Rabri Devi and daughters Misa Bharti
The agency alleges that the transfer was done in the name of Rabri Devi and daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav. The agency has alleged that around 1.05 lakh square feet of land in Patna was acquired by Prasad’s family members by paying cash to vendors.
