Gita Press: The Gandhi Peace Prize will be given to Gita Press in Gorakhpur in 2021, according to a statement released on Sunday. Gita Press was chosen as the winner of the prize by the panel of judges, which was presided over by Prime Minister Modi. The Congress, however, has not been pleased with the choice. Jairam Ramesh, the leader of the party, disapproved of the action and referred to the choice of Gita Press as a “travesty”.

He added that awarding Gita Press the Gandhi Peace Prize in 2021 would be equivalent to “awarding Savarkar and Godse” on Twitter. He asserted that the biography “Gita Press and the Making of Hindu India” was authored by author Akshaya Mukul. According to Ramesh, the book discusses Mukul’s “stormy” interactions with Mahatma Gandhi. According to an official statement, Gita Press is one of the biggest publishers in the world, having released 41.7 crore books in 14 languages, including 16.21 million copies of the Shrimad Bhagvad Gita. In the meantime, PM Modi praised Gita Press’s commitment to the industry and congratulated it on winning the award.

Prime Minister Modi Extends Congratulations to Gita Press on Gandhi Peace Prize 2021 Win

PM Modi Tweeted, “I congratulate Gita Press, Gorakhpur on being conferred the Gandhi Peace Prize 2021. They have done commendable work over the last 100 years towards furthering social and cultural transformations among the people.” Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, also expressed his congratulations on Gita Press’s awarding of the Gandhi Peace Prize for 2021. The Gandhi Peace Prize is an annual honour granted for exceptional nonviolent and other Gandhian techniques of political transformation in the social and economic realm.
