Lok Sabha Result 2024: As a member of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party is leading both the Andhra Pradesh assembly and Lok Sabha elections. This means that Naidu will probably become the country’s undisputed leader. Early trends indicated that the TDP’s 14 Lok Sabha seats, which it leads, are helping the NDA surpass the majority threshold. The party ran for 17 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats, and it became clear that the state as a whole supports it.
Naidu’s Alliance Shifts and Their Impact on Andhra Politics
The TDP was leading in 99 of the 175 state assembly seats, followed by its ally Jana Sena in 15, the BJP in five, and the NDA in totaling 119 seats. This is in stark contrast to the YSR Congress party, led by Jagan Reddy, who is now only receiving 15 seats. He will take over as chief minister when he returns.
From 2014 until 2019, Chandrababu Naidu served in the NDA government. Before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he defected from the NDA and joined the Congress-led UPA alliance, which ultimately lost the assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Shortly after the defeat, he severed ties with the Congress and joined the NDA in March 2024, a few days before the announcement of the national elections.
Strong Comeback After Imprisonment by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy
After being imprisoned by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in November 2023 for corruption, Naidu has made a strong comeback to the hustings five years later. According to political analysts, the TDP benefited from claims of misgovernance and corruption against YSRCP MLAs, which followed his imprisonment and generated sympathy for him.
