NDA Secures Majority with Support from Alliance Partners

Despite winning 240 of the 543 seats, the BJP was short of the 272 majority. Nevertheless, the NDA passed the halfway point and secured 292 seats thanks to significant backing from N Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), and other alliance allies. The Opposition INDIA alliance surprised winning 234 seats, defying exit poll projections. The Congress gained 99 seats, a significant improvement above the 52 it won in 2019.
