PM Narendra Modi is currently reviewing Odisha and West Bengal to assess the impact of cyclonic storm Yaas. PM Modi met at KalaiKunda in West Medinipur to review the damage caused by the cyclone.
In this meeting, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee submitted the initial report of the damage caused to the state by the cyclone Yaas. However, sources say that Mamta Banerjee and her Chief Secretary arrived at the review meeting 30 minutes late while they were in the same premises. After coming to the meeting, Mamata Banerjee handed over documents related to the impact of the cyclone and left the meeting saying that she had to attend other meetings.
She asked for a package of 20 thousand crores. After that Mamta Banerjee went to Digha and held an administrative meeting in Digha. Meanwhile, a meeting started under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi in Kalaikunda. Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, Leader of Opposition of Bengal Shubhendu Adhikari, Union Minister of State Devshree Chaudhary, were present in the meeting with the PM.
Yesterday CM Mamata Banerjee herself announced that she would have a meeting with PM Narendra Modi, but angry Mamata Banerjee refused to participate in the meeting after the Opposition leader Shubhendu Adhikari was invited to the meeting. Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee had done an aerial survey of various Yaas affected areas and reviewed the situation. CM Mamta Banerjee said that the state had suffered a loss of 20000 crore rupees and one crore people were damaged because of Yaas cyclone. Asked for a package of 20 thousand crores for Digha and Sundarbans.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today in the meeting announced a financial assistance of Rs 1,000 crore to Cyclone Yaas-hit states – Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand – for immediate relief activities.
