Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday took back the remarks made on Bihar. He said that he had no intention to insult the state or its people. Commerce and Industry Minister and Leader of the House Goyal said he immediately withdraws the statement if anyone is hurt by the statement.
He said that at the outset let me make it clear that there is absolutely no intention to insult Bihar or the people of Bihar and if it has hurt anyone, I immediately withdraw that statement. It was not done with any malice towards anyone.
RJD MP Manoj Jha demanded an apology
On the commencement of Rajya Sabha proceedings on Thursday, RJD MP from Rajya Sabha Manoj Jha, who wrote a letter to Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday, demanded an apology from the BJP leader. Manoj Jha had alleged that Union Minister Goyal had remarked that, ‘If he can only make the country Bihar’. Jha said that this statement of Goyal is an insult to the people of Bihar. He should apologize to all the people. Jha wrote in the letter that one would not believe that a person like the Leader of the Upper House has such an opinion about one of the greatest states of the country. This statement of Goyal expresses the derogatory attitude of the Center towards Bihar.
There was a ruckus on this statement of Goyal
Goyal made this comment on Tuesday when RJD member Manoj Jha was speaking during the discussion on grant demands. Jha said that the government should pay equal attention to the poor and the industrial houses. On this, Goyal replied that “If he has control, he can make the whole country Bihar”.
Earlier, Bihar MPs from RJD, JD(U), Congress, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Shiv Sena protested against Goyal’s remarks near Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in the Parliament House complex and demanded an apology from him. JD(U) leader Rajeev Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh told reporters that the people of Bihar were hurt by Goyal’s remarks.
Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav said that we are not lying that favoritism is happening with Bihar. Center is not cooperating for the development of Bihar. Union Minister Piyush Goyal commented on Bihar in Parliament. We have opposed this and demanded that Piyush Goyal should apologise. These people defame Bihar and the hatred they have towards Bihar has come to the fore.
