PM Modi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was criticised by the opposition for his reaction to the no-confidence motion in parliament, claiming that he avoided discussing the violence in Manipur for “90 minutes” and only brought it up after they staged a walkout. During Prime Minister Modi’s response to the motion of no confidence, lawmakers from the newly formed Opposition group I.N.D.I.A staged a walkout from the Lok Sabha.
PM’s Manipur Silence Draws Sharp Condemnation
Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Derek O’Brien, in a video message, said, “PM Modi conveniently skirted around the pressing issue of Manipur for the initial 90 minutes of his speech.” However, when INDIA chose to stage a walkout, the Prime Minister’s calculated response was swift, he added. “I can tell you the positive – the teflon coating has gone, the sheen has vanished. PM Modi after your speech today, one is quite confident that INDIA: ‘jitega Bharat’,” Derek O’Brien said in a video message tweeted by his party. The Opposition, particularly the Congress, came under fire from the Prime Minister during his speech, who claimed that “they are not concerned about the hunger of the poor, but only concerned about power.” He mocked the opposition, saying they should be “better prepared” for a second no-confidence vote in 2028. He expressed confidence that his party would win the general election in the following year. His address was given in response to appeals from the opposition for him to comment on the ethnic violence in Manipur, which has killed over 150 lives. A declaration from the Prime Minister regarding the circumstances in Manipur was demanded by the Opposition in the no-confidence motion.
Congress Accuses PM Modi of ‘Congress-phobia’ Amidst Manipur Discussion
Speaking about Manipur, PM Modi said, “The entire country is with Manipur and the Centre and state governments are working together to restore peace in the state.” The Congress lambasted Prime Minister Modi, alleging that he was plagued by “Congress-phobia” and that this was the reason he attacked the party during his speech in the Lok Sabha. Party MP Gaurav Gogoi claimed that the Prime Minister talked for more than two hours, spending the majority of that time criticising the grand old party rather than discussing Manipur.
Congress Chief Accuses PM Modi of Election Rally Turn in Fiery Response
The head of the Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, responded angrily to PM Modi’s speech by accusing him of turning the debate into a “election rally.” The Congress veteran stated, “Had you given up your stubbornness and arrogance earlier, the valuable time of Parliament could have been saved.” “The Prime Minister failed to talk about Manipur. He did not take any responsibility for the failure of his chief minister,” Gaurav Gogoi said. In an attack on the BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) uploaded a video to X, formerly known as Twitter, showing some BJP lawmakers dozing off during the prime minister’s speech. ‘Give such a boring speech that your own MPs fall asleep,’ the caption advised. The TMC, the political party of Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, also criticised PM Modi for giving Manipur “one minute” of his time. This wasn’t what PM Modi was expected to do. His speech was full with jokes and digs. He failed to provide the comfort and healing that the people of Manipur expected, according to RJD MP Manoj Jha, who spoke to news agency ANI.
