Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pope Francis met each other in Vatican City.
According to sources, this meeting was scheduled for only twenty minutes, but lasted for about an hour. During this, PM Modi and the Pope discussed many issues like fighting climate change and eradicating poverty with the aim of improving the earth.
During the meeting, he was accompanied by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was also there. PM Modi reached Rome on Friday on his five-day tour of Italy and Britain.
PM Modi has made a tweet about his meeting, in which he wrote, “Had a warm meeting with Pope Francis. I got an opportunity to discuss many issues with him and I also invited him to come to India.”
During this, PM Modi invited the Pope to come to India. Pope John Paul II last visited India in 1999. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister at that time. Now the Pope has been invited to visit India during the tenure of PM Modi.
Earlier, PM Modi was welcomed on his arrival at the Vatican. Leonardo Sepianza welcomed PM Modi and introduced him to others from the Vatican.
