Punjab elections: Charanjit Singh Channi will contest from two seats

Congress on Sunday released its third list of candidates for the Punjab Assembly elections. The party has fielded Chief Minister Charanjit Singh as its candidate from Bhadaur assembly seat. Earlier, he has already been declared a candidate from Chamkaur Sahib seat. In this way, Chief Minister Channi is trying his luck from two assembly seats. In the third list, the party has announced the names of 8 candidates.

Channi, 58, who became chief minister for the first time, took over as CM in Punjab in September after the Congress sacked Amarinder Singh. Amarinder Singh had a long dispute with Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu, after which he left both the post of Chief Minister and the Congress party.

Congress has released the list of 8 candidates for the Punjab Assembly elections. In this, the names of Charanjit Singh Channi from Bhadaur, Tarsem Singh from Attari, Sukhpal from Khem Karan, Satbir Singh from Nawanshahr, Ishwarjot Singh Cheema from Ludhiana South assembly seat, Mohan Singh from Jalalabad, Manish Bansal from Barnala and Vishnu Sharma from Patiala were announced.

On Sunday, AAP’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal held a press conference with Bhagwant Mann in Amritsar. In which he had said that if he comes to power, pictures of Bhagat Singh and Baba Saheb Ambedkar will be installed in government offices by removing the photographs of leaders.
