With Punjab elections a few weeks away, the Congress on Friday unveiled its list of star campaigners for the state. Former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are among the grand old party’s star campaigners.
Former Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar and senior Congress leaders Anand Sharma, Ashok Gehlot and Rajeev Shukla have also been named the star campaigners for Punjab.
The list further includes the names of the party’s Punjab unit chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, party leaders Ambika Soni, Sunil Jakhar, Ajay Maken and others.
Bhupesh Baghel, Partap Singh Bajwa, Bhupindra Singh Hooda, Kumari Selja, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Sachin Pilot, Ravneet Singh Bittoo, Deepender Singh Hooda, Ranjeet Ranjan, Netta D’Souza, BV Srinivas, Imran Pratapgarhi, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Amrita Dhawan, Raminder Awla and Tajender Singh Bittoo are also among the names in the 30-member list.
Yesterday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released a list of their star campaigns that includes 30 names in total and a few star names are Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amir Shah. Also on the list are Union Ministers Rajanath Singh, Smriti Irani, Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hardeep Singh Puri, Anurag Thakur among others.
As per the ECI announcement on Jan 8th, the Punjab Assembly elections 2022 will be held on February 20 to elect 117 members of the 16th State Legislative Assembly.
