Punjab News: Punjab Governance Reforms Minister Aman Arora on Thursday launched a digital project aimed at easing the process of obtaining certificates for citizens. The initiative allows sarpanches, nambardars, and municipal councillors to verify applications online, eliminating the need for citizens to make multiple visits for their signatures.
Key Features of the Initiative
Under the new system, patwaris will forward applications online to local representatives, who will receive notifications and provide their recommendations via WhatsApp. This innovative approach is expected to save time and reduce bureaucratic hurdles.
Comprehensive Training for Stakeholders
To ensure a smooth transition, Minister Arora emphasized that district-level training and support are being provided to all stakeholders. Sarpanches, nambardars, and councillors are encouraged to register themselves on the e-Sewa portal through their respective deputy commissioner offices’ governance reforms branch. Login IDs will be provided to facilitate access.
Support and Assistance Channels
In case of challenges, local representatives can seek help from the DC office, visit the nearest Sewa Kendra, or call the helpline number 1100 for assistance. Citizens can also apply for certificates directly at Sewa Kendras or by calling the helpline number 1076. Once processed, certificates will be delivered digitally through SMS or WhatsApp.
Towards a “Digital Punjab”
Arora highlighted that the project is a significant step toward creating a “digital Punjab.” By streamlining government services and leveraging technology, the state aims to enhance efficiency and make citizen services more accessible.
The initiative marks a milestone in the state’s governance reforms, simplifying processes and ensuring greater transparency in service delivery.
