Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, reaffirmed that “China has taken away people’s land in the area” when visiting Ladakh. He said, “Here, the concern is, of course, China has taken away the land…people have said that China’s army has entered the area and their grazing land was taken away but PM said that not an inch of land was taken away, but this is not true, you can ask anyone here.”
Rahul Gandhi Highlights Dissatisfaction and Unemployment Concerns
For the past three years, India and China have been involved in a protracted border stalemate in eastern Ladakh. Following a fatal clash in June 2020 in eastern Ladakh’s Galwan Valley, relations between the two neighbours deteriorated. The inhabitants of Ladakh, according to Rahul Gandhi, are dissatisfied with their new position. “There were so many complaints from the people of Ladakh, they are not happy with the status that has been given to them, they want representation and there is a problem of unemployment…people are saying that the state should not be run by bureaucracy but state must be run by voice of people…”, said Rahul Gandhi in Ladakh. Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, was spotted on Saturday biking to Pangong Lake while visiting Ladakh. On the occasion of Rajiv Gandhi’s birth, Congressman Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to the former prime minister from the banks of Pangong Tso in Ladakh.
Rahul Gandhi Visits Pangong Lake Ahead of LAHDC-Kargil Elections
On Saturday, the Congress MP travelled by car to Pangong Lake while in Ladakh, weeks before the elections for the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council-Kargil (LAHDC-Kargil). The Wayanad MP uploaded ten photos to Instagram documenting his bicycle trip to Ladakh. Rahul Gandhi engaged in conversation with the Youth Congress leaders and members in Ladakh on Friday. Later, he participated in a football game in the neighbourhood.
