Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, voiced hope on Thursday that a united opposition would be able to unseat the BJP following the national elections of next year. Rahul Gandhi, who is presently touring the US, spoke with reporters Wednesday at the National Press Club in Washington.
Congress Party’s Strong Performance Anticipated
‘I predict that the Congress party will perform strongly in the upcoming election. It’s going to surprise folks, I think. Simply calculate that a strong opposition will be able to beat the BJP on its own,’ he added. He claimed that with less than a year till the parliamentary elections, the Congress was regularly meeting with other Opposition parties. ‘The opposition is largely cohesive. We are in communication with every opposition party. There is, in my opinion, a lot of good work being done. Because there are areas where we and the Opposition are in direct competition, the discussion is complicated. Therefore, some compromise is necessary,’ he stated.
Rahul Gandhi’s Confidence in Major Opposition Coalition
However, he continued, ‘I am convinced that it (a major Opposition alliance) will materialise. Gandhi made the claim that the government has “captured” institutions, which has previously been made by a number of opposition leaders and refuted by the ruling party. The Congress leader discussed his expulsion from the Parliament after being found guilty of slander, calling it “a benefit” for him. ‘I can fully redefine myself because to it. To be honest, I believe they have given me a gift. They have, albeit they’re unaware of it,’ he remarked. Additionally, he stated that he was unconcerned about any threats to his life, so it can’t be the reason he caved in.
RaGa Calls for Press Freedom and Cultural Harmony
In a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, Congressman Rahul Gandhi claimed that there was a clear institutional capture in India. Rahul Gandhi, who is now on a three-city trip of the US, stated that ‘press freedom is vital for a democratic society’ and that ‘there is a clampdown on the institutional framework that facilitated talks between diverse cultures and social groups.’ Invoking his Bharat Jodo Yatra, he claimed that there was anxiety among the populace as he went throughout the nation. ‘I travelled by foot across India, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, and spoke with millions of Indians. They didn’t appear content, and there were significant problems with inflation and rising unemployment, in my opinion. The populace was distressed,’ he claimed.

Rahul Gandhi’s Unwavering Courage in the Face of Assassination Threats
He attacked the governing Bharatiya Janata Party, claiming that it was fostering a polarising worldview in the nation that was harming India. The assassination threats don’t worry me. Everyone must pass away. You don’t back down because of something like that, is what I learned from my grandma and father, the Congress leader remarked. His father Rajiv Gandhi died in a suicide attack in 1991, and his grandmother Indira Gandhi was murdered by her bodyguards in 1984. Both men had served as prime minister. Weeks before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit later this month, Rahul Gandhi is touring the United States.
