Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made a big announcement to investigate the ethnic violence that erupted in Manipur. Under this, the investigation of this violence will now be done by a special team of CBI, for whose monitoring a commission will be constituted. A retired High Court judge will be included in this commission.
Amit Shah said that the Central Government has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of a retired High Court judge to investigate the Mamipur violence. The Governor of Manipur will lead a peace committee with members of the civil society. Amit Shah said that several agencies are working in Manipur to investigate the incidents of violence. 6 incidents of violence pointing towards conspiracy will be done by high level CBI and we will ensure that the investigation is fair.
Total compensation of 10 lakhs from the state and the center
Amit Shah said that the Manipur government will provide a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased victims through DBT. The central government will also give a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased victims through DBT.
Amit Shah asks citizens to avoid fake news
Amit Shah appealed to the citizens of Manipur not to pay heed to fake news. He said that strict action will be taken against anyone who violates the SOO agreement. Those possessing weapons will have to surrender before the police. Combing operation will start from tomorrow and major action will be taken if weapons are found with anyone.
Center sent team of doctors
Amit Shah said that the Central Government has provided 8 teams of medical experts including 20 doctors to Manipur to provide assistance to the victims of violence in the state. 5 teams have already reached here and 3 more are on the way.
Why is there violence in Manipur?
The reason for the violence in Manipur is to give Scheduled Tribe status to the Meitei community here. The Meitei community forms the majority in Manipur, but has been given the status of a Scheduled Tribe. Whose people of Kuki and Naga community are protesting. Another reason for the violence is the government land survey. The BJP government of the state is getting the reserved forest area vacated. Tribal villagers are being made to vacate the reserved forest area.
