To increase the feeling of patriotism among government officials, the Maharashtra government has taken a unique decision. The government has issued an order saying that from now on all the officers will say Vande Mataram instead of saying hello when they come or do anything. This order will be applicable to all mobile phones and landline phones of officers. Along with this, in daily routine and government programs too, officials will address each other as Vande Mataram.
Minister Deepak Kesarkar in the Eknath Shinde government of the state said, ‘Vande Mataram was such a mantra, which played a big role in making the country independent from the British. All the governments and common people all over India accept this. I think there is nothing bad in saying Vande Mataram to each other. If there is a misunderstanding in the minds of some people about Vande Mataram, then we will make them understand and prepare about it.’
At the same time, the Samajwadi Party has raised the flag against the government order on Vande Mataram. In the Maharashtra Assembly, SP MLA Abu Asim Azmi said that while opposing the government’s decision on Vande Mataram, he called it a rift between Hindus and Muslims. Azmi said, ‘Bala Saheb Thackeray always said Jai Maharashtra and today Eknath Shinde, who claims to follow his ideas, has forgotten all this.’
Azmi said that a true Muslim would never say Vande Mataram. This is kufr in Islam. We can instead say ‘Saare Jahan Se Achcha Hindustan’.
Radical Islamic leaders have always shown their eyes on the national anthem Vande Mataram. Shafiqur Rahman Burke, Samajwadi Party MP from Sambhal in UP, has been calling Vande Mataram a great evil for Islam. They say that Bharat Mata is praised in this slogan and a true Muslim cannot praise anyone other than his own Allah. When the national anthem is sung in Parliament and other public events, all radical Islamic leaders, including MP Shafiqur Rahman, have been seen sitting with snobbery. In the affair of Muslim vote bank, all political parties have also been turning a blind eye to the antics of these fundamentalists.
