Sukhwinder Sukhu sworn in as Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Mukesh Agnighotri becomes Dy CM

At 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Congress leader Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, a four-time MLA, was sworn in as Himchal Pradesh’s fifteenth chief minister in front of senior party leaders at the historic Ridge.

At the swearing-in event were Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Rajasthan Chief Minster Ashok Gehlot, former deputy CM of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot. Mukhesh Agnihotri, the leader of opposition leader in the outgoing assembly, was sworn in as the deputy chief minister of the hill state.

Former Union Minister Anand Sharma, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Himachal Pradesh in-charge Rajeev Shukla, the state congress chief Pratibha Singh also in attendance.

Rahul Gandhi congratulated the leaders who had played a crucial role in returning the party to power in Himachal Pradesh, while State Congress Chief Pratibha Singh said that the pledge made by the party’s rank and file was to put the Congress back in office.

Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, said that Rahul Gandhi’s Yatra against inflation and unemployment will gather more support from Himachal Pradesh and that it marks a new beginning for the Congress and the people of that state.

The Congress wrested power from the BJP in the hill state , winning 40 of the 68 assembly seats. Election results were announced on Thursday after the polls closed on November 12.
